This time of year, has always held a complicated kind of beauty for me. I love the turning of the season, the sense of gathering and gratitude, yet it’s also when I feel the weight of personal loss most deeply. I’ve said goodbye to both a beloved sister and my mother in this season, and every year their absence arrives alongside autumn.
I often wish they could see what my husband and I have built with Renard Creek. The wines we share and the intention behind them, the relationships, the stewardship, the belief that small producers deserve to be seen, valued, and protected. That wish has become a kind of compass for me. It reminds me that legacy is something we choose to create.
From the beginning, we felt a kinship with the wineries of this region. Many are generational family estates, places where knowledge is passed down like heirlooms. These families have weathered seasons of abundance and seasons of hardship, yet they continue to farm with a steadiness that feels both humble and heroic.
Our mission grew from that recognition. We committed ourselves to supporting and uplifting small producers through transparent partnerships that honor their craft and protect their independence. We share their successes with honesty and heart, helping our customers understand not only what’s in the bottle but why it matters and why these wines carry stories worth preserving.
In many ways, partnering with these families feels like honoring my own. Their dedication, resilience, and devotion to legacy reflect the same values my mother and sister embodied. And so, as we move forward, I carry them with me. In every partnership, every bottle, every story we tell, there is a thread of remembrance woven in.
This season will always be bittersweet. But it is also full of purpose. And for that, I am grateful.
