Red, White & Beautiful Summer Series -The Grenachista: An Inside Look-Meet Casey Graybehl

There are wineries that make Grenache, and then there is The Grenachista, a Sonoma original built on conviction, curiosity, and one winemaker’s refusal to let an underdog grape stay in the shadows.

A Winery Built on Intention and Vineyard Truth

Founded in 2013, winemaker and owner Casey Graybehl runs The Grenachista the way some people run a workshop: hands on every tool, present for every decision, and unwilling to compromise on the details that matter. He sources fruit from select vineyards across Sonoma and Mendocino, choosing sites that let Grenache speak in its own dialect, coastal brightness, Dry Creek structure, Mendocino lift.

His winemaking is intentionally simple:

  • Whole cluster
  • Native yeast
  • Minimal intervention
  • Small lots

The goal is purity — Grenache in its most honest form.

Why Grenache, and Why Now

Grenache has always been a grape with range: red, white, rosé, pét‑nat, piquette. Casey leans into that versatility, producing a lineup that feels both classic and quietly experimental. Each wine is a study in texture and restraint, lifted reds, savory rosés, and whites with surprising depth.

But the through‑line is always the same: Grenache deserves a spotlight, not a supporting role.

The Grenachista Today

The Grenachista is a fiercely focused, vineyard‑driven Grenache project with no interest in being anything else.

For those who love Grenache, or are ready to discover it, The Grenaschista stands out as one of Sonoma's most compelling new-wave, small-lot, low--intervention producers.

At Renard Creek, we celebrate The Grenachista as part of our Red, White & Beautiful Summer Series, a tribute to the growers, makers and small-lot originals shaping the North Coast today.
