This High Valley Sauvignon Blanc has notes of tropical fruit combined with fresh herbal aroma, uplifted with hints of jalapeño. The grapefruit and mango flavors on the palate show nicely. With a sweet entry and a racy acidity, that helps to show this wine's wide palette of flavors and aromas, leaving a pleasant finish.
Every three to four weeks, an unusual weather phenomenon would pass through the warm and temperate spring. The start of summer was marked by a heat wave that reached up to 110˚ F in Lake County, a little lower than our southern neighbors. We've never experienced such heat, followed by heavy rain, in the middle of summer. The two inches we got put off picking till the soil dried up and the brix level rose. This harvest was like playing a game of weather dodgeball.
The mountain slopes of Lake County have an elevation that ranges from 1,600 to 3,000 ft. which creates great tannin and structure in our grapes. Our vineyards are certified sustainably farmed. We run sheep on these vineyards, composting the weeds into nutrients for the red, rocky volcanic soils. These are intensely flavored grapes crafted into wines that capture the character of the remarkable region.
