Throughout the years at the Graziano Family of Wines, we have featured many wines that were blends from many different grape varieties. CPZ is a blended wine produced from the 3 major old-world grape varieties of Mendocino County: Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel. These varieties have always been, and will always be, some of the most important varietals we produce and some of the most important wines produced here in Mendocino County.
This vintage displays a rich dark purple garnet color. Aromas and flavors of ripe berries, plums, and toasty oak and earth are framed by a very full body with rich, round tannins. This wine will age gracefully for many years to come.
Vineyards
The three grape varieties for this blend are 100% from Redwood Valley, which is a great appellation for these timeless grapes. The Carignane is grown in our Vincenzo vineyard in Calpella from 85+ year old vines planted by my grandfather and father. The Petite Sirah is from the Arrequin Vineyard at the headwaters of the Russian River and the Elizabeth Vineyard which is located in the eastern hills overlooking the valley. The Zinfandel comes from our cousin Gil Tournour and his late brother Alex, which is grown in gravelly clay soils in the eastern benchlands of Redwood Valley.
